Put LAT’s comic books in your shopping list and bring the ‘Kampung Boy’ series back home.
You don’t need to be Malaysian or to live in Malaysia to enter LAT’s world: it is Malaysia. If you have visited Malaysia, that means that you can appreciate LAT. If you enjoyed visiting Malaysia, then you will enjoy reading LAT’s books. If you wish to share a piece of Malaysia with family or friends, and if you are looking for something to keep the Malaysian atmosphere, then the ‘Kampung Boy’ series is the best purchase. LAT’s comics books are available in all good bookshops but most of the time instead of being promoted at the front desk – as they richly deserve – they are hidden and you would need to ask the staff where they are.
I hope my modest contribution would help in promoting LAT’s talent among visitors and travellers, and that more people will share my interest and admiration of this very special person.
Breaking news : if you are in KL there is an exhibition of LAT’s cartoons (original drawings), 14-31 th of August, at Bangsar Shopping Center (Bangsar).

Organised by Crafthub for the Sarawak Craft Council and supported by the Sarawak Tourism Board, the event coincides with the Rainforest World Music Festival which has been attracting huge crowds from all over the world for 11 years – 12,000 persons attended in 2008!
The main focus of the Rainforest World Craft Bazaar is on the use of traditional materials and traditional skills enhanced by competent modern design.

The map will highlight the significant local attractions in cultural and heritage assets such as scenery, farm, cottage industries, food, which are only accessible by bicycle.

WHERE? Balik Pulau and neighbouring villages in Penang

Anyone who is interested in cycling in nature site and would like to share he/she knows through documentation to others

Have your own transport to go to Balik Pulau and a bicycle to move around also you who like to share and work with young people

TODAY Greenselipar will be reaching 10 000 hits (9995 hits at this moment).
Even if Sunday is the quietest day of the week for Greenselipar – quite a good news because it could mean that our visitors go outdoor during Sunday or have family gathering – for sure we will reach the first 10 000 hits step today.
Some people would say “great!”, others will smile :), others will think it’s nothing.
I believe it’s a good first step, but NOW we have to stay focus on the next 10 000 hits and for this
WE NEED YOU : you can help promote Greenselipar by recommending the website to your friends and by promoting Greenselipar through the numerous e-tools like digg, google, facebook…(you surely better know than me), you can help us improve Greenselipar by to giving us your feedback (how do you like Greenselipar, what would you improve, what information you would like to find???) and support (it helps a lot).
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS :
- local contributors and travellers keen to share about their Responsible Tourism experiences in Malaysia and willing to write for Greenselipar.
- A network of people in different parts of Malaysia to give input to Greenselipar updates, new projects, news, events, etc
- People willing to help us in internet marketing and web development as we are not web developpers (and its only me behind the computer)

- to upgrade Greenselipar into a website and develop some interactive tools like maps, rating, educational tools..

This year’s fundraising exhibition in aid of WWF-Malaysia will run from 17 May – 31 May 2009 in the underground gallery at Rimbun Dahan.
‘The tropical rainforest presents an ideal of wild perfection whose luxuriant growth we could to emulate in our gardens. It provides the inspiration for the landscapes of our imagination. The height of towering trees, their natural spacing and the effect of irregular features like rocks and rivers feed the well-spring of illumination for artists and poets trying to recreate something of this natural wonder in their own idiom. Without having seen a forest, how could we understand the potential of the material we work with? Where do we stand when our tanah air ceases to exist?’

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekdays by appointment.
There will be a curator’s talk at Rimbun Dahan Gallery 3 pm, Saturday, 23 May
Rimbun Dahan is one of my favorites places which combines nature, art and architecture and it’s just about 1 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.
Rimbun Dahan is a centre for developing traditional and contemporary art forms. It features buildings designed by Hijjas Kasturi, as well as a 19th century traditional Malay house, in an indigenous garden environment.
Please note that Rimbun Dahan is a private property. It is open to the public for limited hours only during exhibitions.
